Curved Screen
Stainless steel wedge-wire screen for gravity-based removal of solids from wastewater with minimal clogging.
The curved screen is constructed of stainless steel AISI 304 wedge-shaped bars installed with spacings equal to the desired slot width for screening. Due to the wedge shape, the slot width is smallest on the water supply side, which minimises clogging since particles cannot easily get stuck between the wedges.
Wastewater is fed on top of the curved screen and flows downward through the spacings between the wedges. Solids larger than the spacings are retained on the screening surface and collected into whatever collection system is available.
In cases of water with high fat content, a spray-cleaning device can be installed to keep the screen clean. The curved screen is a simple, robust solution for initial solids removal in many types of industrial wastewater.
